Baccuses Celebrate 36th Wedding Anniversary

Chevon and Mike Baccus recently celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary. They were married Feb. 12, 1983, at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Melbourne, FL.

Mike is a retired elementary school teacher and Chevon serves as executive editor and publisher of LakeWalesNews.net, an online news site published by the Baccus Center for Engaged Communications and Leadership.

Chevon was born in Ohio and moved to Lake Wales at the age of 5. She is a 1973 graduate of Lake Wales Senior High School and earned her associate's degree from Polk Community College (now Polk State), a bachelor's from Barry University and a master's degree from Webster University. She is a former newspaper reporter and editor, who has worked in marketing, public relations and business development for many years.

Mike was born in Augusta, GA and grew up in the Melbourne, FL area. He is a 1969 graduate of Melbourne High School and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and economics from Florida Technological University (now University of Central Florida). He served in the U.S. Air Force and before becoming an educator worked more than 20 years for Prudential Property & Casualty Insurance Company.

Mike and Chevon have one grown daughter, Lisa, a registered nurse who lives with her husband, Matt Escobar, in St. Cloud.
