Living the Dream at Ridge Landing

The Lake Wales area might be adding some new residents if Jeff Bretzer and Michael Skovron see their efforts bearing fruit. The two Realtors promoted the Ridge Landing Aviation community off U.S. 27 south to hundreds of attendees at the 45th Annual Sun 'n Fun Fly-in & Expo April 2-7.

Bretzer is a commercial pilot flying the 777 for United. He and Skovron both live in South Florida but are airpark specialists promoting Ridge Landing through Weichert Realtors.

John Fazzini of Bountiful Lands in Lake Wales started developing Ridge Landing abut 10 years ago. The private aviation community about eight miles south of Lake Wales has sold 20 of its 99 lots and with the marketing expertise of Bretzer and Skovron expects to see significant growth.

The community has a 60 by 3,000 foot runway and taxiways that allow homeowners to park their airplanes next to their homes. Sun 'n Fun was a natural place to reach a large number of potential buyers. The event drew about 200,000 visitors from throughout the world. Thousands flew to the event in their private planes.

"Every house has a taxiway that leads right to the house without crossing surface streets," Bretzer said. "It's a great place for pilots to retire or possibly build a vacation home."

Bretzer and Skovron kicked into high gear at Sun 'n Fun promoting the positive attributes to pilots visiting from Brazil. The husband and wife indicated an interest in visiting Ridge Landing, especially after they heard it was surrounded by trees and near a lake. The Ridge Landing promotional materials also tout the development's close proximity to Orlando and Tampa and the many nearby golf courses.

Bretzer said he plans to retire from United in a few years and would love living in a community like Ridge Landing. After all, who wouldn't want to join residents of Ridge Landing who are "Living the Dream."
