Wilkins Brings Jazz Saxophone Tribute to Arts Center March 7

GRAMMY-nominated saxophonist Jack Wilkins will take center stage at the Lake Wales Arts Center Saturday, March 7 for his tribute to the life and music of Jazz legend Hank Mobley.

Wilkins will be performing the landmark recording "Soul Station" in its entirety as well other Mobley hits. The concert will take place at the Lake Wales Arts Center on at 6 p.m. March 7.

Wilkins is a professional saxophonist and the Director of the Jazz Studies Program at the University of South Florida. An accomplished jazz saxophonist, Jack Wilkins has 5 CDs out as a leader, the newest release on Summit Jazz is titled "The Blue and Green Project". This CD features a unique set of Wilkins original compositions and arrangements based in American roots music and inspired by the culture and environment of the Appalachian Mountains.

Wilkins is a Yamaha Instrument Company clinician, a Fulbright Specialist and a long time member of the faculty of the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops.
