Communication Builds Our Community

A Path to Returning

Circumstances, challenges, drifting, distractions, perfectionism, and fear of criticism sometimes lead us off the path on which we were. If that path truly was what God intended for us, and still has for us, we would be wise to just get back on the path while we have opportunity to do so.

We will likely not be perfect at doing the things we are called to, and we will almost certainly encounter challenges, distractions, and criticism from others. We may feel we are not "well-positioned" enough yet to do what we think we should or could. We may feel that our lives are too mundane compared to the glamour we hear from others (or see portrayed on social media). We may be too proud and trusting in ourselves, or we may lack confidence in what we have been given and have forgotten in whose strength we should trust to move forward on our path.

Our path is likely similar to many, but simultaneously unique for us. What a blessing that God is more often patient when we get off the path He wants for us. Praise God that He allows opportunities for us to get back on the path. May we remember the time and opportunities we spend and invest should not be in seeking acclaim for ourselves, but to bring glory to God. May we ponder how we can return to good things He is calling us to in this unique season of our life.

Matthew 6:33a – But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteous.

Ephesians 2:8-10 – For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith – not of yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us.

Psalm 90:12 – Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Ephesians 5:15-17 – Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.

Hebrews 6:11-12 – We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

Psalm 37:1-3a – Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the LORD and do good
