Ducks Unlimited Receives Dyer Award

Monthly Charitable Awards Support Local Organizations

When it comes to conservation, restoration, and management of North America's wetlands and waterfowl habitats, there is little that can compare with Ducks Unlimited. The grassroots organization, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary, works tirelessly using research, biology, and common sense to help conserve wetlands and the waterfowl who inhabit them. While this is wonderful for the waterfowl, all of humanity also benefits from the efforts of the conservationists and outdoor enthusiasts who work hard to provide funding for research, education, and conservation.

Nationally, more than 4,000 events are held annually to benefit the organization, and in Lake Wales, Ducks Unlimited hosts an annual dinner for over 200 individuals on Thursday, September 30th, to help raise funds and awareness to benefit the organization and its goals both locally and nationally.

Appreciating the importance of seemingly small components having a huge impact on a larger ecosystem is something the staff at Dyer Kia and Dyer Chevrolet understand and act on each and every day, so choosing to recognize Lake Wales Ducks Unlimited for its dedication to thinking globally and acting locally was, as the expression goes – duck soup!

Each month, members of the Dyer family and Dyer Kia and Dyer Chevrolet team meet to review the applications which have been submitted and select one non-profit organization to receive that month's recognition and $3,000 award.

For the members of the Dyer team, it's all about helping to make a positive difference in the community. For the recipients, it's an acknowledgement of their tireless efforts to do the same and a much-needed financial boost to help further their missions.
