Lake Wales Library Cuts Hours Temporarily Due to Staff Shortages

Staffing shortages have forced the Lake Wales Public Library to reduce hours, said Library Director Tina Peak in a notice issued Sunday. The reduced hours will be effective immediately, through at least January 15. Temporary hours of operation will be 9:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Saturdays.

"The Lake Wales Public Library has been impacted by staffing shortages," Peak said. "We trust the public will understand this temporary reduction of hours."

Those wishing to receive Library materials after those hours or on Sundays are invited to use their website or call ahead so that those materials may be placed in lockers for after-hours or socially-distanced pickup. The Lake Wales Public Library lockers now offer holds pickups, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The locker system is located at the library's main entrance. Library users who wish to pick up their requested books or movies in the lockers should select Lake Wales Library Lockers when placing your holds, or request that library staff place your holds in lockers.
