The Fish Aren't Taking A Holiday on Area Lakes

It's Great Weather to Try Your Luck

There's some action to be found on area lakes despite the unseasonable warmth this holiday period. Start your New Year out right with a fun advneture in pursuit of the perfect catch.

Here are some of the specific lures that area fishermen are using with success around southeast Polk waters.

On Lake Walk-in-the-water try trolling with a "shinee hinee" in orange and chartreuse in 6ft of water for the big specks. The bass are starting to move up into the shallows. Try keying in on anything isolated with a "gold boy howdy."

On Lake Hatchineha anglers are catching their limit of specks under lights in the canal at night, while the bass are biting in junk mats with a 1.5oz tungsten and a hematoma beaver.

On Lake Kissimmee lots of boats are drifting around marker 9, with many finding success using minnows. Bass are biting in the mornings, so try throwing a top-water lure and then flipping the grass mats later in the day
