AAUW Scholarship Deadline March 8

Helps Mature Women Return to College

The Lake Wales Branch of the American Association of University Women is offering Educational Achievement Awards to mature women residents of Polk County who are interested in continuing their education. Recipients must be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education.

The postmark deadline is Friday, March 8 for applicants to write a letter with proof of college admission. Award winner will be chosen by March 31, and selected recipients must attend AAUW luncheon on April 23 to receive the $1,000 cash award. Priority is given to applicants who are mature women who are returning to the educational process.

The AAUW awards recognize that some women start college, but for a personal reason have to drop out. Their award is for those who have a powerful desire to complete their education and need some financial assistance.

In their 1-2 page letter, applicants should describe their background, life focus, educational achievements, future goals and financial need.

Information and the application can be found online at https://lakewales-fl.aauw.net/files/2018/12/2019-AAUW-EA-Awards-flyer-and-app-ONLY-002.pdf
