Communication Builds Our Community

Our Fledgling News Site is Preparing to Soar

Like this owlet our new baby, LakeWalesNews.net, is perched to watch our community from a vantage point not from a safe branch on a tree, but on the ground where life and community are happening each and every day.

We know it will take time to develop and strengthen our wings. Our sustenance does not come from our mother's timely feedings. It is fed to us by the members-residents, visitors, businesses and organizations-who are concerned that Lake Wales's flight path will be mapped out for us as a growing and thriving entity to steadily climb and eventually soar to new heights.

One way to accomplish this goal is to have a fair and unbiased local news source that covers the events and activities that make a town or city unique.

As LakeWalesNews.net officially began our own journey, Feb. 25, 2019, (with a soft launch Feb. 13) in many ways we relate to that infant owl. Many an owl who has come and gone through social adaptation and patterning already imprinted the process for our owl to survive and prosper.

The same is true for our online newspaper.

We instinctively know what to do and how to do it. Those who succeeded before us involved the community at large. We will listen to and respond to the opinions of all ages of our fellow Lake Waleans. We will form those thoughts and ideas into stories and reporting that reflect our inherent personality as a City. We, as a community service, will positively help to chart a path that engenders health, growth and a sense of vibrancy and confidence that will serve to affect present and future generations.

Our slogan, "Hometown stories that count from people who care," with emphasis on the words "hometown" and "care" provides the building blocks for a sustainable news source and a vehicle for connecting people throughout our community to make Lake Wales an even better place to live.

Thank you for reading. Please help spread the word, and send us stories, photos, videos and other content to share our fine community spirit with others.
