Historic Cemetery Tour April 6

If you enjoy visiting old cemeteries, the Polk County History Center invites you to join them Saturday, April 6 for their last cemetery tour until November.

The walking tour of historic Oak Hill Cemetery, where pioneer families and war veterans are interred, starts at the History Center with a short walk of about one mile, which includes historic landmarks along the route to the cemetery. The Polk County History Center is located in the old courthouse at 100 E. Main St. in Bartow.

The cemetery ground is uneven and visitors are advised to wear appropriate footwear.

The cemetery tour begins at 11 a.m. the first Saturday of every month, November through April.

Oak Hill Cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. It is the final resting place for Confederate General Evander M. Law.
