Communication Builds Our Community

Rick Moberly, 1952-2019

Ricky Erol Moberly, age 67, of Lake Wales passed away peacefully on Oct. 11, 2019 after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born in Miami on July 5, 1952 to Luke and Mondalee Neihoff Moberly.

Rick always had ideas and made lists, like his father, that would make life better for everyone. He was an artist, craftsman and could build or fix anything. Rick loved fishing more than anything and fished every day when he was younger. He was a great athlete and excelled at baseball and, interesting fact, could ride a unicycle for miles at a time. He was a gifted musician with a great voice and played guitar, harmonica, and drums.

If you were fortunate enough to meet Rick, he was someone you would not soon forget. He immediately made you comfortable and had a wonderful sense of humor; he was hilarious, which he kept to his final days. His friends adored him, especially his crew at Camp Lester and Camp Mack, who called him "Sticker Rick" because of his successful graphics and sign business. Rick was always an entrepreneur - builder, cabinet maker, real estate investor, and most recently running a lucrative online gun holster business.

Rick is preceded in death by his father Luke Moberly. He is survived by his beloved mother, Mondalee Moberly. He is also survived by his five sisters, whom he worshipped and who worshipped him, Darlene (Bob) McMahon, Pam (Matt) Auen, Penny (Gerry) Dieg, Laurie Creel and Belinda (Craig) Winsett. The Moberlys have a large family and he will be dearly missed by many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family.

Family will receive friends for a memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Vitas Hospice.

Rest in Peace Sweet Rick
