Sheriff's Office Next Active Assailant Survival Training Jan. 14

On the heels of the recent church shooting in Texas the Polk County Sheriff's Office is again offering "Surviving and Active Assailant" training for churches, businesses and individuals.

The next session will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 at the Sheriff's Operations enter, 1891 Jim Keene Blvd. in Winter Haven.

The free program, presented by highly trained PCSO professionals, will help prepare citizens for any horrific event involving an armed assailant.

This training provides an overview of active assailant incidents and best practices about how to prepare for, prevent, and respond to an active assailant/shooter at your church, business, or another venue. The "Run, Hide, Fight" training model will be covered, including tactics and strategies of what to do when law enforcement arrives. Deputies will also discuss the potential role of Florida concealed weapon license holders and the legal justification of "lethal engagement" with an active assailant.

While the training is free, participants are asked to RSVP to [email protected] and include the class they wish to attend, name, phone number and how many representatives are coming from your group.
