Granny's Kitchen in Downtown Lake Wales is the Real Thing

Creating the menu for Granny's Kitchen, Stephanie (Granny) and husband Bob chose from the many experiences Bob could draw on having owned several successful restaurants featuring New England seafood.

One of the specialties of the house is New England Clam Chowder, Bob's own recipe, that has won multiple awards in Newport, Rhode Island.

Stephanie is the more outgoing personality, and loves marketing. She worked 25 years in sales and customer relations in Virginia. Stephanie states, "Word of mouth advertising is the best advertising." From there it's a "ripple effect" that takes place when customers not only are satisfied with their meal and service, but when they come back to order their favorites, or try something new.

Bob is the go-to person for all business decisions. This is not at all surprising since he was Food & Beverage Director for a hotel management company based in Florida and Texas. Also, he owned three very successful restaurants in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Granny's Kitchen breakfast and lunch menu is chock full of everything from your normal bacon and eggs, grits, delicious omelets, corned beef hash and biscuits and gravy to subs and sandwiches, burgers, French dip, chicken tenders, and salads including Mediterranean, Chef, and more.

Orlando, the grill cook, known as the "Philly Cheesesteak King," makes his dishes with love and caring that is yet another trademark of Granny's Kitchen that makes them to go-to Lake Wales eatery with an extensive menu that fits all tastes and desires.

Specials change daily, and don't forget Bob's New England seafood including sea scallops, fish and chips, clam strips, whole belly clams, and lobster rolls.

"We take pride in making as many of the dishes as homemade as possible," mentions Stephanie, including mixing their own tartar sauce, salad dressings and sausage gravy.

Server and floor manager Amanda Blevins with 30 years' experience gets credit for being the creator of many of their sauces, dressings and gravies.

When you need to reserve a banquet room they have the space adjacent to the dining room at their location as landmark tenant in the historic Stuart Avenue arcade.

Whether you are just passing through or simply passing the time, Granny's Kitchen can quickly become your favorite hangout. A taste of New England in Lake Wales is a welcome alternative and the perfect new addition to Historic Downtown Lake Wales providing a draw that benefits other downtown businesses as well.
