Communication Builds Our Community

Supporting K-12 Students in Lake Wales

Citizen Support Services is a group of people from our community who volunteer their time, talent, and financial assistance to support and advocate for needs that exist within Lake Wales, where existing service organizations are not well positioned to support or coordinate. Citizens of Lake Wales, in partnership with leadership from several community service organizations, aim to ensure support and equity is provided to citizens in need.

During the month of December, members of Citizen Support Services contributed over $750 worth of money, gift vouchers, gift cards, and actual items, to be used to acquire cold-weather clothing items for some of our K-12 students who are lack appropriate items. Below is the statement that was read at the January 19th Lake Wales City Commission meeting.

There is no cost to be a participant in Citizen Support Service. The volunteer group plans to continue meeting virtually, monthly, to discuss ways they can appropriately support citizens in need. The next group meeting will be January 28th at 4:30pm through Zoom. Feel free to join, or share this information with your contacts. Additional information can be found at https://connectingcommunityresources.net/lakewales.
