Communication Builds Our Community

Lake Wales Quilters Guild Exhibit at Library

Throughout the month of March the Lake Wales Public Library's Local Artist Gallery has an amazing display of handmade quilts by local textile artists.

The Lake Wales Quilters Guild was founded November 2008. The first monthly meetings were held in the Lake Wales Public Library's Schoenoff Meeting Room. The group currently meets the second Monday of each month, 1 p.m. at the 1st Methodist Church of Lake Wales, 230 St. N. Everyone is welcome, the fee to attend is $1.

The Lake Wales Quilters Guild provides donations to Lake Wales Charter Schools, Lake Wales Care Center and the Polk County Sheriff's Department.

Members of the group are all skill levels, from beginners to experienced, enabling members to teach and learn from each other.

The Lake Wales Public Library's exhibit contains 28 quilts of all sizes.

The library's exhibit partners with the Lake Wales History Museum's exhibit Creating Community through Quilts and Art. The Lake Wales History Museum is located at 325 South Scenic Highway, and is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

If you love quilts and textile art don't miss these beautiful shows. Face coverings are mandatory for entry into the Lake Wales Public Library and Lake Wales History Museum.
