3 Public Input Workshops Set for City Recreation Master Plan

The public is invited to help create the city's Recreation Master Plan by attending one of three public workshops in the coming weeks.

Engineering and planning consulting firm S&ME was hired by the city to put together the master plan. The firm has been working with city staff and meeting with various recreation-related groups and is now ready for the public input phase.

The first workshop will be in-person from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 22 at the James P. Austin Community Center, 315 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The second will be a hybrid workshop from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 29 in-person at the city commission chambers, 201 W. Central Ave. or via ZOOM.

The third will be a ZOOM only workshop from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 11.

Details and ZOOM links along with an interactive map and opportunities to comment can be found at https://smeinc.mysocialpinpoint.com/lake-wales-parks-and-rec-master-plan

Areas of the city can be pinpointed and comments left under the categories new parks, new programming, existing parks and trails.

Updates and results of a community wide survey also will be posted on the site. The statistically valid survey is being sent out via mail to a random sample of city residents.

In addition to the recreation master plan, S&ME is working as a consultant or sub-consultant for the Crystal Lake Park Connector Trail, Northwest Sidewalks Plan Development, Market Plaza Design, and Park Avenue Streetscape Design.
