Communication Builds Our Community

Director Provides Guest Column About Higher Learning Academy

I, Betty Bent, represent the Higher Learning Academy of Central Florida. Located in Lake Wales, FL my Preschool not only teaches from a diverse curriculum that covers a range of learning for all the race history point of view, teaching each and every child to be proud of who they are at a very young age.

We start learning here at the tender age of 1 years old. We expose the young brains to absorb knowledge while the synapses in the brain are just soaking up everything that is being taught to them.

With tender loving care we give them the love and kindness that they would receive from home. While learning numbers, shapes, colors, math and words are all important.

But one of the main things that Higher Learning teaches is the love of God! That needs to be shared at a young age, because without the love of God how do we expect to love each other. The most important thing that I feel this Preschool brings to this community is making sure that our staff show good morals and standards toward the kids, teaching them to use self-control at an early age.

What our community lost was good old fashioned manners, teaching our children to respect themselves as well as others, like saying "yes, ma'am, yes sir, excuse me and thank you." These are values that we teach our children, giving them what they need to go out into the world with good manners.

We want our kids to enter the school system with respect for others and with the knowledge that there are consequences for your actions so make the best choices for each situation that you may find yourself in.

Building a better community starts at home and then it's up to us as educators to do our part in shaping our future in our youth.
