Gerald Garrard, 1955-2021

Gerald Wayne Garrard, 66, was born in Frostproof, FL on June 21, 1955 to Marie (Stanton) and G.K. Garrard.

He grew up in Frostproof and graduated from Frostproof High School. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Army. When completing basic training, he met his future wife, Dorinda Morrison of Fort Leonard Wood, MO. They, married on Nov. 22, 1975 in Detroit, TX. He had a successful Army career for 13 years, serving in Fort Hood, TX; Kaiserslautern, Germany; Turkey; and Fort Carson, CO. He then worked for the Street Department in Paris, TX, from which he retired.

He and Dorinda then moved to Lake Wales to help his mom. He worked locally in construction, maintenance at Disney World and as a security guard at Lake Ashton and Webber International.

Surviving him are his wife, Dorinda; two daughters, Dani Beathard (Robbie) and Toni Garrard; grandchildren Brent, Jerimiah and Grady Taylor and Isabella and Castiel Garrard; four uncles and eight aunts; and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, G.K> and Marie Garrard and two brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 14 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. Cremation is scheduled.
