"Empty Bowls" Effort Will Help Feed Hungry in Our Community

Annual Event Begins With Painting the Bowls

If you like to have fun with paints, and help a good cause, here's an opportunity to do them both at the same time!. Empty Bowls begins this week and will end in February.

In an effort to help raise the many thousands of dollars needed to help relieve hunger, the annual paint-a-bowl ceramics project leads to an auction of the various artistically-designed-bowls. The bowls are glazed and fired, and are popular local collectibles.

Painting days will be held on December 10 and January 7th at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 221 South 4th Street in Lake Wales. Painters receive a bisque bowl, brushes and paints that will allow them to create their own designs.

The final reception and auction will take place February 8, 2022 at the 1st Presbyterian Church, 16 North 3rd Street in Lake Wales.

For information about participating, readers may contact the Lake Wales Care Center, which administers the program. That can be accomplished by email to [email protected], or by phoning 863-676-6678.
