Esther McKenzie, 1924-2021

Frostproof Homemaker

Esther McKenzie of Frostproof passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021 at her residence.

She was born March 14, 1924 in Ironwood, Michigan to the late Peter and Grace Schiavetti; she moved to Frostproof from Ironwood, Michigan in 1946. Esther was a homemaker and attended First Baptist Church of Frostproof. She enjoyed football and was well versed on players and teams in both the college and pro league. She spent her time reading, sewing, and crocheting.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Richard McKenzie, Sr. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Hood and husband Darrol of Frostproof, Patty Pittman and husband Ernie of Frostproof, and Priscilla Johnson of Mooresville, North Carolina; son, Richard McKenzie, Jr. of Frostproof; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Silver Hill Cemetery with Rev. Darrol Hood officiating. In lei of flowers, those who wish are asked to make donations to the First Baptist Church of Frostproof (Post Office Box 327, Frostproof, Florida 33843).
