Norma Jean Rattey, 1931-2022

Long-time Owner of Al's Place Restaurant

Norma Jean Rattey of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Norma was born in Lyons, NY on October 17, 1931, to the late George and Mabel Hall.

Norma was the proud owner of Al's Place for 30 years, a well-known restaurant in Lake Wales, with her husband of 42 years; Albert Lionel Rattey Jr. Norma tended bar and would always greet her customers with a smiling face while her husband Al was the cook. Norma enjoyed listening to the big band music that her husband played and enjoyed his live band that would perform on the weekends at Al's Place. She was proud of and loved the clientele that she and her husband grew together over the years.

She was a member of High Point Church of God and loved her church very much. She was also a former member of The Krewe Les Jolies Dames, a popular group that leads Lake Wales Mardi Gras every year.

Her great love for her family and especially her grandchildren will be missed.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband Albert Lionel Rattey Jr, and her 4 sisters and 3 brothers. She is survived by her daughter Lori Hall and husband William of Lake Wales; and her 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Services will be held on February 5, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home.
