Bob Johnson, 1958-2022

Bob Johnson of Lake Wales was born on 0ctober 21, 1958, to Helen Roe Johnson in Racine Wisconsin. As a child they moved to Ohio, then to Kentucky, where he has nieces and nephews. In 1972 after the loss of his mother at age 12, he moved to Lake Wales with his aunt and uncle.

Bob graduated from Lake Wales High School class of 1978, and Ridge Voc-tech in 1980. His more than 44 years in the workforce was as a welder- foreman in the trucking industry, with Oakley Transport and, until very recently, with Indian River Transportation, whose kindness to him was so appreciated by his family.

Bob and Eileen were high school sweethearts and married at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in 1978, and remained as members throughout their marriage.

Bob loved boating and fishing with family and friends. Travel was among priorities, and with family took many great vacations including England, Alaska and Hawaii, and so many of the states. Here in Florida, Vero, Pine Island and Crystal River were favorite weekend getaways.

This June, Bob and Eileen celebrated 44 years of marriage during a long planned trip to the Grand Canyon, Mount Zion National Park, and Antelope Canyon. He was sure proud of the National Park Card, which he had just obtained.

In addition to Eileen, Bob is survived by son Chris (GF Brittney and her 2 littles Mason and Aria) of New York, his children Gavin, 20, Avery 16, of Bernardston Mass, and Charlie, 13, of Hillsdale NY. Son Benji (Chrissy) their children Tyler, 17; London 8; Juliet 5. Daughter Courtney McCrystal and Damon - their sons Gage 15; and Jax, 9, of Winter Haven. And his beloved American Bulldog, Bear.

Bob's service will be Friday, August 19, 5:00 at Marion Nelson Lake Wales. Food and visitation after at the home of Courtney McCrystal, address will be available at the service.
