Ridge Scenic Highway 39-Mile Yard Sale Happens November 3

Annual Sale Draws Many Thousands to Scenic Highway Route

A popular and long-running community event returns this year, and organizers are offering plenty of advance notice to those wishing to participate.

The 15th annual 39-mile Yard Sale will be held on Saturday November 5, 2022. The event runs from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm. and sees thousands of shoppers descend upon the route of State Road 17 between Frostproof and Haines City. With its central location, much of the activity focuses on the Lake Wales area.

The Ridge Scenic Highway offers beautiful views of lakes and hills while passing numerous historical and cultural resources along the way. It has become a popular route for bicycle outings in recent years.

Official "sponsored" locations for the sale event include the Lake Hamilton Town Hall, the United Methodist Church in Dundee, the Lake of the Hills Community Clubhouse, the Lake Wales History Museum, and the Frostproof Chamber of Commerce, although there are scores of other sites offering goods, many set up in parking lots and front years facing the highway.

Although located a couple of miles off the Scenic Highway, The Freedom Tour at the Eagle Ridge Mall, is also selling spaces to vendors.

The Ridge Scenic Highway Corridor Management Entity (CME) is responsible for the preservation and beautification of the designated historic Scenic Highway or SR 17. Members include representatives from the cities, communities, and businesses along the highway. The yard sale encourages residents to drive up and down the Scenic Highway to experience the views and other sights along this historic stretch of road.

The CME is always looking for new members from the communities along the Scenic Highway to serve on the committee and for additional input on the yard sale event. Those seeking further information or wishing to volunteer, can visit the organization's website at ridgescenichighway.com
