Special Concert Offered Saturday Afternoon at Lake Wales Arts Center

Music fans are invited to a special concert this Saturday afternoon beginning at 3:00 at the Lake Wales Arts Center. According to a statement issued by the Arts Council, the concert is "part of the Lakeland Symphony Orchestra's ensemble series, featuring small ensembles of musicians performing in smaller venues throughout Polk County. This intimate, one-hour concert offers the chance to hear LSO musicians up close while still finding space to get lost in the music."

Patrons will hear a selection of favorite arias and popular Broadway pieces performed by Aaron Santos. Santos is a classically trained tenor and a recent graduate of Florida Southern College with a Bachelor's degree in vocal performance.

Santos most recently performed in the Lakeland Symphony Orchestra production of Cavalleria Rusticana as a member of the professional chorus.

Santos will be accompanied by Jenny Heidtman. Heidtman was born and raised in Bartow, and was musically inclined from an early age, singing her first vocal solo at age 4 and exhibiting great aptitude for the piano. She began competing at the local and state level in elementary school, winning awards and accolades beyond her years.

Heidtman's first orchestral concerto engagement was at age 15 with the Imperial Symphony Orchestra. Vocal studies eventually led her to Opera, and she found herself captivated by the Italian art of Bel Canto singing. As a mezzo soprano, she sang in opera roles across the US and an Italian Opera Festival Tour.

The Lakeland Symphony Orchestra's ensemble series performances also include extensive oratorio engagements, solo recitals, cabaret, jazz, musical theatre, educational outreach and more.

Tickets to the event are listed as $5 and $15. The Arts Center is located at 1099 SR 60 East in Lake Wales.
