University Women to Host Commission Candidates Forum March 13.

Event is co-Hosted by Lake Wales Woman's Club at Auditorium

A forum to hear from four candidates for the Lake Wales City Commission is planned for mid-March to allow voters to learn about the goals and platforms prior to the April 4 election. Two seats on the five-person commission are at stake in the vote.

The American Association of University Women Lake Wales Branch will join with the GFWC Woman's Club of Lake Wales in sponsoring the forum on March 13th.

The candidates for the two seats include Deputy Mayor Robin Gibson, who will face a challenge from political newcomer Danielle Pride Gibson in the Seat 5 race. Michelle Threatt and Keith Thompson will face off over Seat 3, which is being vacated by long-time commissioner Terrye Howell.

The forum will take place at the GFWC Woman's Club Auditorium, beginning at 5:30 p.m..

The auditorium is located at 275 East Park Avenue downtown, adjacent to the Lake Wales Public Library. The public is encouraged to come and learn more about the candidates and their platforms.

Lake Wales citizens may register to vote, or vote by mail, through March 6, 2023. For more information phone 863-534-5888, or visit the Polk Elections Website.
