"Bingo, The Musical" An Entertaining Evening of Laughter at Little Theatre

Play Runs Through April 30

Having a passion for bingo can lead to lifelong friends and even enemies. This latest musical at Lake Wales Little Theatre takes you on a hilarious journey you don't want to miss. Their first musical production since Single Wide in 2020 is running now through April 30th.

"Bingo The Winning Musical" features a dynamic, fun, and personality-filled trio of women. Vern, played by Stacey DeCosmo, Honey, played by Xela Pinkerton, and Patsy. played by Nanette Watson. These women never miss a game, if you're playing, make sure you don't get on Vern's bad side. She is as stubborn as they come and has an exhilarating drive for the game of bingo.

The upbeat songs, impromptu moments, and even audience interaction is something especially unique about this musical. You're not just watching bingo, you're playing bingo. Three different bingo games conducted throughout the show keep you on the edge of your seat as you're trying to win big.

But wait there's more, actual prizes are won.

Minnie, played by Arlene Pijuan, does a great job of improvising throughout the show with the audience. As the bingo game manager, she is always spreading the joy of the game and sniffing out those who falsely call bingo. Maddison Glockner plays Allison, a young girl who has a mission to make things right for her ill mother Bernice, played by Carol Krause.

Through all the competitiveness, soulmates, and drama from the past, this show has a small cast but a big heart.

This show is mostly full of bingo-loving women. However, the one male in the cast, Mitchel England, plays Sam/Frank. He is known as the bingo caller, playing as Sam in the present and Frank in the past. He has an important job of calling out the numbers. Sam is great at his job, but only when he is not distracted by the witty charm of Honey.

This musical is filled with flashbacks and catchy tunes that will leave you wanting more. Dorinda Garrard and Alicia Bush are part of the cast chorus and prove that anyone can win a game of bingo. Director Kara Wiseman, music directors Steve and Melinda Kessler, and the stage manager Karen Fewell have put together "a night with the girls" that truly leaves its mark on anyone that gets a chance to see it. The importance of friendship and what power that has is remarkable to witness.

A show of joy, laughter, and heart is something the entire family can enjoy. Glockner especially loves being in this show, and mentions, "loving the part when all of us are together harmonizing in the end."

The play is directed by theatre veteran Kara Wiseman, while Jenni Coffman is the choreographer for the show. Melinda and Steve Kessler provide musical direction, while Karen Fewell serves as stage manager.

The musical runs through April 30th at Lake Wales Little Theatre, an intimate playhouse located at 411 North Third Street in Lake Wales. The company has been producing plays for about 45 years. Seating is reserved and available online at their website..

The next performance on the line up for this season will be the teen production of "Not Your Average Zombie Apocalypse," which opens June 9th and will run until the 18th.
