Iris Strader Karickhoff, 1938-2023

KARICKHOFF, Iris (Strader) of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Lake Wales and Davison, Michigan, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Altenheim Family-first Senior Living in Indianapolis.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, Michigan, 48423. Pastor Rob McPherson will officiate. Interment will be in Davison Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of the service on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lake Wales Care Center of Florida, 140 E. Park Avenue, Lake Wales, Florida 33853 or Davison United Methodist Church, 207 East Third St., Davison, Michigan, 48423.

Iris was born in Philippi, West Virginia on September 21, 1938, the daughter of the late Brell and Eva Louise (Hudkins) Strader. Iris married Harry M. Karickhoff on May 26, 1956. She was a 28-year resident of Davison, and also lived in Lake Wales for 23 years.

Iris was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was devoted to her family and friends and kept close to them, regardless of the distance.

Along life's journey, she expressed herself through her many talents including cooking and crafts. Above all, her greatest talent was sharing a loving hand to others through her volunteer work at food pantries and community care centers. Iris was an active member of the United Methodist Church for over 55 years.

Iris is survived by her loving husband, Harry; children, Jennifer (John) Britting and Harry (Pam) Karickhoff, Jr; grandchildren, Allysa, Patrick and Savannah Britting and Lee Merritt; siblings, Dorris Blackmore of Des Moines, IA, James Strader of Olivet, MI and Willa Lucas of Olivet, MI; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by children, Vicky Lynn and Patrick Karickhoff.
