Arthur St. Clair McKinstry, 1932-2023

Arthur St. Clair McKinstry, 90, peacefully passed away June 8 at Cates Hospice House in Ocala, Florida. Arthur was best known to all that knew him as "Mac" and was born in San Antonio Texas in 1932. He graduated from Holderness School and then attended Washington & Lee University. He had been a resident of Lake Wales FL for 56 years, where he spent most of his career at The Vanguard School. He was an instrumental member of the team that established the Lake Wales campus in 1966. He was also an active member of Church of The Good Shepherd.

Arthur is survived by his wife Elaine McKinstry, daughter Tracy Alexander, his son Kevin McKinstry and daughter-in-law Anita McKinstry. He had one grandchild, Cameron McKinstry.

He was preceded in death by his father the Right Reverend Arthur R. McKinstry, his mother Isabelle Van Dorn McKinstry, his brother Jim McKinstry and his sisters Isabelle Stadler, Margret Maull and Barbara Lawton.

His funeral service will be held at Church of The Good Shepherd in Lake Wales on June 17 at 11:30 am. The interment service will be held at Old St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Middletown, Delaware at a date to be determined.

His family would like to send special thanks to the people that gave him so much care during his final days, Cates Hospice House, West Marion Hospital and Brentwood Assisted Living.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the local humane society or to Cate's Hospice house in Marion County.
