Sebring Man Charged With Armed Robbery After Lake Wales Bank Heist

Bank of America Was Target of Tuesday Morning Robbery

A Sebring man who decided to make an "unauthorized withdrawal" from the Bank of America in Lake Wales is in jail and charged with armed robbery.

Dennis T. Davis, 42, reportedly walked into the Bank of America at 11 a.m. Tuesday and approached a teller indicating he had a firearm in his jacket pocket, which he pointed at the teller.

After demanding and receiving cash, Davis fled on foot westbound from the bank at 1100 SR 60 East in Lake Wales with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Members of the Lake Wales Police Department and Polk County Sheriff's Office established a perimeter and used a Lake Wales Police canine to track the suspect near the CVS pharmacy just across 11th Street from the bank.

The K9 team located Davis "hiding in thick vegetation on Palmetto Avenue," a police report stated. Davis was wearing the clothing described by witnesses to the robbery and was in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police brought Davis back to the bank where he was positively identified by witnesses.

No one was injured during the robbery, and police reported that when Davis was taken into custody, he did not have a gun in his possession.

Davis is nevertheless being charged with armed robbery and will be booked into the Polk County Jail.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Lake Wales Police Department at (863) 678-4223.
