Communication Builds Our Community

LW Library Hosts Summer Programs for Teens

The Lake Wales Public Library is hosting summer teen programs. Members of the Lake Wales Community will be appearing as guest presenters from 3-4 p.m. June 10-14 for Adulting 101 classes for teens and young adults (ages 15 to 20) covering topics of sewing, car maintenance, personal financial literacy, landing a job, and eating healthy.

The Library is featuring a full day summer teen leadership camp from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 15-19. The camp will help teens examine their leadership style, hone people skills, and amp up personal motivation in this collaborative leadership camp for teens and young adults (ages 14 to 20). This camp will prepare teens for upcoming leadership roles through teambuilding activities, goal-setting work, and mission development. Registration is required for this camp and can be done at https://www.cityoflakewales.com/367/Teen-Room. Space is limited and filling up fast!

Teens will find plenty of fun activities at the Lake Wales Public Library this summer, too! On Thursdays at 1 p.m. throughout the summer, teens can have fun in the library meeting room with animals from Gatorland (June 13th), Lego building projects with Merlin Magic Making (June 20th), a sushi making class with Sushi Chef, Ron Yoshioka from Thai Oishi (June 27th), and Movie Mayhem with Men In Black movies (July 11th). Teens can complete summer activity logs with their reading and attendance at programs for prizes and incentives.

The library will wrap up teen summer programming with a College Prep Academy open to parents and high school students from 4-5 p.m. July 22 featuring up-to-date practical information for gaining admissions into college and paying for college without ruining your financial future.
