Library Offering Sewing Class for Children

The Lake Wales Public Library will provide a new class in June, Basic Sewing for Children.

With funding provided by the Lake Wales Library Association, the library has purchased six Singer sewing machines. The class will be taught by Lake Wales Library Association President, Jodie Schmidt.

Basic Sewing for Children will provide instruction in safely using a sewing machine, threading a machine and joining fabric. Also included are pinning, feeding, hemming, decorative stitching and other skills.

Participants will complete four projects during the class sessions, a pillow case, pencil roll-up, owl pillow and a tote bag.

Participants must be between the ages of nine and eleven and able to attend all four classes. The class is limited to six pre-registered students.

Class will be held daily, Monday, June 21 through Thursday, June 24, 2-3:30 p.m. in the Lake Wales Public Library's Schoenoff Meeting Room. Face coverings are encouraged. Participants must be able to attend all four classes.
