Applications to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, The US Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, the US Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the US Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York, are due October 1.

Congressman Darren Soto (FL-9) representing the Lake Wales area is eager to receive and review applications and select his nominees for appointment to the coveted scholarships. Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies. Congressman Soto may nominate up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to our district.

The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

Congressman Soto strongly recommend that interested students contact their chosen academy's local admissions representatives. These individuals are a great resource to provide additional information on their application process, deadlines and to assist prospective cadets and families.

The representatives may be contacted through these links to the four Academies: West Point Field Force,

Naval Academy Blue and Gold Officers,

Air Force Liaison Officers, and the

Merchant Marine Field Reps.
