Paul Dudley Sheffield, 1938-2021

Paul Dudley Sheffield of Winter Haven passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at his residence.

He was born August 5, 1938 in Winter Haven to the late Charlie and Lesba Sheffield. Paul was a retired Warden for the Florida Department of Corrections and a veteran of the United States Air Force that served in Korea. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Lake Wales, the Masonic Lodge of Avon Park, and has been active in many other civic groups and activities throughout the years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Paul was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Sheffield in 2016. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Brenda Sheffield; daughters, Paula Pennell (Daniel) of Lakeland, and Stacie Sheffield of Avon Park; son, Matthew King of Lake Wales; daughter-in-law, Doni Sheffield of Okeechobee; sister, Barbara Von Windeguth of Winter Haven; brother, Dennis Sheffield (Joyce) of Oklawaha; grandchildren, Tahni Giralt (Chris), Teal Sheffield, Adam Pennell (Christin), and Ryan Pennell; and great-grandchildren, Leila Giralt, and Lucas Giralt; nieces and nephews, Christopher Sheffield (Denise), Mike Sheffield (Kim), and Leslie Spires (Darrell); and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Lake Wales with Father Tim Nunez officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Lake Wales Care Center (lakewalescarecenter.com/donate/) or Good Shepherd Hospice (www.chaptershealth.org/for-volunteers-donors/personal-giving/).
