Camp Squeeze Offers Kids a Summer of Fun

Registration Open For City-run Program at Lake Wales Family Recreation Center

Giving young kids safe and fun outlets to help them burn off all that extra energy is a challenge that may have a solution. Parents may rejoice thanks to a new summer program offered by staff the City of Lake Wales' Family Recreation Center. Kids entering kindergarten through 5th grade are eligible to attend Camp Squeeze.

Camp Squeeze will offer campers an array of themed science, art, and sporting activities. They'll learn how to make their own Mars rovers during Space Week, meet gators from Gatorland during Jungle Week, and create abstract bubble art during Beach Week, and much more.

Children will have a fun learning experience as part of Camp Squeeze at the Lake Wales Family Recreation Center. Registration is limited and now open.

Registration by June 5 gets campers a free swim towel and t-shirt. Registered kids will also receive a Camp Squeeze backpack and water bottle. The cost for Camp Squeeze is $90/week for recreation members and $100/week for non-members, with a one-time $25 registration fee. City residents receive a membership discount.

Registration for Camp Squeeze must be completed in person at the Lake Wales Family Recreation Center. The camp runs for nine weeks, from June 10 through August 2, Monday through Friday, ending shortly before school begins in August.

Call the Lake Wales Family Recreation Center for more information at (863) 678-4192.

The program is a first from the city after it assumed operations of the former Lake Wales Family YMCA, which is a city-owned facility featuring a pool, weight rooms, and many other facilities for children and adults.
