"Dangerous Animals" is New Entry in the Horror Film Category

Dangerous Animals is a scary shark movie directed by Sean Byrne and stars Hassie Harrison and Jai Courtney.

This is a movie about a free-spirited surfer girl who gets kidnapped by a psychopath who enjoys feeding his victims to sharks. The bad guy, Bruce Tucker, is played by Jai Courtney and he does a really good job being scary playing the villain with unsettling calm and intensity. The heroine of the tale, Zephyr, played by Hassie Harrison does a good job of not playing the victim or giving up and that's part of what makes the film work.

Tucker spends almost the whole movie telling us all about sharks. Zephyr at some point does make good use of this information in her various escape attempts. As a movie went on you could kind of guess how the movie would end but nevertheless when the end came it was gratifying and we could see who the true monster of the movie was and spoiler alert.. it wasn't the sharks.

There is a love interest that tries to come and rescue Zephyr which was very sweet and heroic. But I was glad that ultimately Zephyr has to rescue herself.

This movie is essentially a horror movie. There are some scenes and elements that will remind the viewer of Jaws and there are lots of bloody scenes. This is not for the faint of heart. But if you like horror then this was just a fun monster movie.

I give this movie 3 out of 5 stars. If you liked Jaws, if you like horror movies I recommend this.
