New Cardiac Health Clinic Opens in Lake Wales

AdventHealth Continues Expansion of Medical Services

Medical services offered in Lake Wales continue to improve, and this week marked the official opening of a new heart care office, part of the expansion of AdventHealth in Polk County.

Happy staff celebrated the opening of the new AdventHealth heart care clinic in Lake Wales Tuesday as officials gathered for the ribbon cutting in the lobby.

The new office of Dr. Saiyed Mohib at 1255 SR 60 East marks the first cardiologist at AdventHealth Lake Wales, offering local patients the opportunity to find expert cardiovascular care closer to home.

"Our patients no longer need to travel, they can get the services they need right here," Dr. Mohib said, pointing out that ECG, EKG, harness monitors, and other cardiac care services are available. The clinic features three exam rooms, one procedure room and new state-of-the-art equipment.

Dr. Mohib has more than 20 years of experience assessing and preventing heart attacks and other heart-related diseases. He has worked with patients in the area for many years, including at Heart of Florida and Lakeland Regional Hospital , where he began working in 2009.

AdventHealth, Dr. Mohib said, allows his to operate his office, "not like a business (but rather) like a community service."

An Orlando resident, he is now searching for a new home in Lake Wales. "This place is awesome," Dr. Mohib told Lake Wales News.net, complimenting the ongoing redevelopment of the city's downtown area. "The future is very bright," he said.

He helps patients improve their health through nutrition and lifestyle changes. He also uses minimally invasive procedures to open blocked arteries and restore blood flow, helping prevent heart attacks. In addition, he treats heart rhythm issues like atrial fibrillation and tachycardia with medications, devices and procedures such as ablation to help restore a normal heartbeat.

"We are thrilled to be opening this new office in Lake Wales," Dr. Mohib said. "With heart disease continuing to be the leading cause of death in the United States and Florida, it's critical to have superior heart care options for our patients close to where they live, so they don't have to leave town to get it. AdventHealth Lake Wales was recently awarded the coveted "A" grade for patient safety by the national Leapfrog hospital assessment service. Local hospital CEO Royce Brown lauded staff who had accomplished the rating. "It's one thing to get to that level, it's another thing to maintain it," Brown said, challenging staff to continue their work to excel in the national rankings.

According to the most recent data from the Florida Department of Health, the rate of deaths from heart disease in Polk County in 2023 was about 145 per 100,000 people. That was higher than the state average of about 135 per 100,000 people.
