The public is invited to participate in a virtual forum beginning at noon this Friday, June 20, to help shape a Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) that will guide the expenditure of transportation funds for the next 25 years. The event is hosted by the Polk Transportation Planning Organization (TPO).
The LRTP provides a plan to address the future transportation needs of the county, in accordance with federal requirements and to account for the ever-changing transportation needs and future development within the region.

The Long Range Transportation Plan is typically updated every five years and was last updated in 2020. Envision 2050 will create a long-range look at future investments that will allow Polk County to work toward having a safer and efficient transportation system.
The LRTP facilitates a countywide, cooperative planning process that serves as the basis for spending county, regional state, and federal transportation funds for improvements to roads, bridges, public transit, freight routes, trails and bicycle and pedestrian networks.
Those who have questions about the future of transportation in Polk County may submit questions and tune in live for answers.
