Big Bass Are Getting Active on Area Lakes

It's Time To Get Out On The Water

The latest reports from area lakes are solid evidence that it's time to break out the tackle and head out.

On Lake Walk-in-the-Water, specks being caught in the grass and around the lily pads on jigs. Bass are moving up into shallow water, and getting ready to spawn. Try throwing a "Boy howdy" top-water lure in the morning around isolated cover, switching over to a black blue Senko later in the day.

On Lake Hatchineha you should try drifting with minnows out in the middle of the lake for specks, then anchor up once you catch a few.

Bass there are moving into shallow water, too. A fisherman landed a 9.55 big bass during the Lake Toho Elite One-Man on Sunday, so that may apply to most area lakes.

On Lake Kissimmee, speck fishing is heating up with the full moon approaching. Set up on the outside grass first thing in the morning with minnows. Bass fishing is starting to get better, so roam the shallows with a frog lure to find fish. Slow down with a "creature" bait to get the bigger bite.
