Low water on area lakes due to the very dry winter have resulted in some hazards for area fishermen, especially on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes.

On Lake Hatchineha, rumor says shell crackers are starting to show up, so try using red worms in the pads. Speck fisherman are catching fish around scattered hydrilla jigging. Bass are up shallow in the flags and pads casting a speed worm in redbug. As on Kissimmee. hazards due to submerged logs and shoals that are normally safely under water are a concern.

On Lake Walk-in-the-Water, use a a double crappie rig drifting the middle of the lake with 2 minnows to go after the bass. The bucket-mouths moved up in the shallows, so casting anything in watermelon red into isolated grass patches can be useful. Try using a 1/4 oz. weight.

On big Lake Kissimmee, bass are still up by the bank, but may be moving out to deeper water soon as water temperatures rise.
