Darwin L. White, 1939-2024

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Darwin L. White, 84, on January 22, 2024 following a brief illness. Darwin was born on December 26, 1939 in Fairview, WV to the late Clifford & Ary (Wilson) White.

Darwin was a good, kind-hearted, charismatic man, dedicated father and grandfather, friend, and vibrant spirit who touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Darwin brought smiles and laughter to so many people. He was a Hall of Fame and record-holding athlete, playing baseball, basketball, and football during his early years to later coaching a variety of sports, a true testament to his passion for teaching and love of sports.

As part of the Flagler College family for almost 30 years, Darwin made a lasting impact as an educator, coach, Athletic Director, Dean of Students, and Registrar. Prior to coming to Flagler, he served as headmaster of Briarwood School in Palatka and held a teaching/coaching position at Sanford School in Wilmington, DE. He received a BS and M.Ed. degree from West Chester (State College) University.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ginger White, and sister, Kyleen Kennett. He is survived by a loving family that includes his devoted companion, Leslie Groninger; his daughter, Tracy Litzinger and husband, Mark; his son, Christopher White and partner, Eric Ross; and his grandchildren, Aubrey and Dane Litzinger.

Darwin leaves behind a legacy that continues to inspire us all. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Darwin L.
