The 11th annual "18 Aces to Conquer Cancer" golf outing to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research and patient aid will take place on January 8 at the Country Club of Winter Haven, giving area golfers a chance to compete for huge prizes and do a good deed at the same time.
The event is sponsored annually by the Mahalak Auto Group. Proceeds will benefit the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
The event offers a chance to win a Jeep lease for every hole-in-one made. The course will be set up so that every hole is a par three and play will be four-person best ball scramble. There will be $31 million dollars' worth of vehicles to give away!
"The goal of 18 Aces to Conquer Cancer is to raise funds for pancreatic cancer, but also to have a fun round of golf for a Great cause!" said Ralph Mahalak Jr., co-owner of the Mahalak Auto Group. "We are looking for interested donors, sponsors, golfers, speakers, and volunteers," Mahalak said, "as well as nominees for our Pancreatic Cancer Courage Awards."
A Jeep/RAM lease is offered with every hole-in-one, while six Golfers have a chance to win $100,000 and one golfer has a chance to win $1,000,000. The $100,000 and $1M winners can share their winnings 50/50 with the charity.
An awards luncheon with live and silent auctions will follow the golf outing.
"We are trying to raise funds for research and awareness of pancreatic cancer," said Mahalak. "It is rarely detected in its early stages, so it is one of the leading causes of cancer death." Signs and symptoms may not appear until pancreatic cancer is quite advanced and surgical removal is not possible.
Over the previous decade this event has allowed the Mahalak Auto Group and its many fans to raise over $180,000 for pancreatic cancer research and other related charities. 18 Aces to Conquer Cancer aims to spread awareness of pancreatic cancer, while donating proceeds to research and patient aid.
Each year, the event is rotated between venues to be close to one of the seven Low Payment King Mahalak Auto Group dealerships-Winter Haven Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM FIAT, Lake Wales Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, Posner Park Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM FIAT, Buckeye Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM FIAT Superstore, LPK Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Defiance and Monroe Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Superstore.
